Little veggie, 小菜茶(xiao cai cha) , refers to teas that are seed grown and therefor not an exact cultivar as exact cultivars need to be from clones. Since each tea is from seed each tree is not a clone and therefore each tree is a little different. The result of little veggie teas is a flavor that in a little bolder in some aspects and while sometimes not as balanced, it can be a interesting profile for those who are looking for something new.
This little veggie silver needle shows notes of coconut, almond and vanilla as its foundation. This tea is from 2020 and the aging has brought almond flavors with a bit of a milkiness.
Since this is a white tea, and a little veggie at that, notes maybe change over time. Generally though this tea is a mix of brown and creamy notes with a touch of roughness.
